GIMPA Business School

GIMPA Business School, one of Ghana’s leading institutions for business education, sought a refreshed brand identity that would resonate with modern learners while preserving its academic credibility. The goal was to create a visual system that is modern, wearable, and meaningful—one that reflects the values of the school and the transformative journey of its students.

The Challenge

The challenge was to design an identity that felt both institutional and contemporary: credible enough for academia, but versatile enough to be used across apparel, events, and digital platforms. The system needed to be recognisable, dynamic, and able to grow with the school’s evolving brand presence.

My Role

I was responsible for developing the full brand identity and design system, including the logo, colour palette, and campaign graphics. I also produced templates for social media posts, event collateral, and speaker announcements to ensure consistent visual storytelling.

Creative Approach

Using Adobe Creative Suite, I designed a modular identity built on symbolic elements that reflect GIMPA’s vision and values:

  • Geometric Shapes (circles & semicircles): Represent rhythm, structure, and continuity of learning. Their modular arrangement reflects flexibility and innovation, showing how ideas can be reshaped and reapplied to new challenges.
  • Leaf-like Forms: Rotated semicircles resemble leaves or petals, symbolising growth, renewal, and transformation. This mirrors the personal and professional development of GIMPA students.
  • Eye Motif: Nested circles evoke eyes, conveying awareness, vision, and global outlook. This aligns with GIMPA’s mission to prepare leaders with perspectives that extend beyond borders.
  • Colour Palette:
    • Green: growth and transformation
    • Blue: trust, professionalism, global connection
    • White: clarity, openness, honesty
  • Line + Star Element: Beneath the wordmark, the line acts as a foundation while the star-like glow symbolises aspiration, excellence, and leadership. This serves as a micro-symbol of achievement and a guiding beacon for students.

Versatility: The pattern system was designed as a living brand asset—adaptable for apparel, scalable for events and digital platforms, and extendable into icons or badges. It ensures the identity is dynamic, recognisable, and future-ready.

Impact

The new identity positioned GIMPA Business School as both credible and forward-looking. It gave the school a visual system that works across traditional academic contexts and modern touchpoints, from formal events to digital campaigns and branded merchandise. The result was a brand identity that students, staff, and alumni could wear proudly, while clearly communicating the school’s values of growth, vision, and leadership.
