Lloyds Bank Breakthrough

Breakthrough is an eight-week accelerator designed exclusively for disabled entrepreneurs, created by Lloyds Bank in partnership with Foundervine. The programme equips founders with the tools, mentorship, and funding opportunities to scale on their own terms, while prioritising accessibility across every element—from hybrid events to AI-powered summaries.

The Challenge

The challenge was to design a brand identity and campaign assets that authentically represented the creativity, resilience, and leadership of disabled entrepreneurs. The identity had to be bold, inclusive, and accessible—breaking away from traditional corporate visuals while ensuring compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG).

My Role

I led the design and creative direction of the Breakthrough brand identity, delivering:

  • A logo system that captured the programme’s spirit of inclusivity and momentum.
  • A cohesive visual language across digital, print, and event touchpoints.
  • Accessible templates for speaker announcements, social stories, and cohort communications.
  • A colour system and typography style optimised for inclusivity and cognitive ease.

Creative Approach

Using Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, I crafted an identity guided by accessibility and meaning:

  • Logo Design: Rounded edges symbolise community and inclusivity, while a pointed edge represents forward momentum—embodying collective strength breaking through systemic barriers.
  • Graphics & Assets: Bold typography, high-contrast layouts, and simplified templates designed for clarity, reducing cognitive load and ensuring inclusivity for neurodivergent and visually impaired users.
  • Colour Palette: Lilac Shadow (#56365C), Natural White (#FFFEFC), and Sunshine Yellow (#FFE399) — chosen for their accessibility, emotional resonance, and WCAG compliance.

Founder-Centric Visuals: Templates centred around real people, putting disabled entrepreneurs at the forefront rather than institutional imagery.

Impact

  • Delivered a visually distinct and accessible identity that reflected the values of inclusivity, empowerment, and bold progress.
  • Strengthened programme visibility by ensuring all assets were legible, clear, and visually engaging across multiple formats.
  • Positioned Breakthrough as a pioneering, founder-led accelerator, setting a new standard for accessible brand design in entrepreneurship programmes.
